Short Fiction Film

Six
eyes

Short film about family, farewell, and unresolved emotions.

The Challenge.

Making a film in 48 hours. With no preparation. And a team that’s never worked together before. For the 48 Hour Film Project, I directed Six Eyes — a short family drama about loss, underlying tension, and what happens when old wounds resurface. The real challenge wasn’t just the time pressure, but finding a story that truly hits home.
Creating a story in just two days with people you’ve never met — and delivering something like this. Incredibly impressive.

The Approach.
Together with screenwriter Wieke van der Linden, I developed the script in a single night. Six Eyes is a film in which three family members reunite after years apart in their late grandmother’s house. Tension simmers beneath the surface — until the inheritance brings everything to a head.

I was responsible for directing and worked closely with cinematographer Boas Wiegmans on the visual approach. In terms of performance, I focused on building tension through glances, dialogue, and timing. I continuously sought connection with the actors, incorporating their input to elevate the performances. Thanks to the intense collaboration within the cast and crew, we delivered a complete film in just 48 hours — from the first idea to the final edit.
The Result.
The film was warmly received at its premiere at Kinepolis Utrecht. Six Eyes won the award for Best Acting Ensemble, received nominations for Best Leading Performance and Best Hair & Make-Up, and finished second in the Audience Favorite vote.
